Robert Eggers wrote Werwulf in authentic Middle English. He brought in two Oxford professors to verify the dialogue, then hired a dialect coach to make it comprehensible to modern audiences.
Nobody in the film has a name. Only the dog has a name.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson spent time with a real wolf to prepare for the role. Eggers worked what they observed into the performance. Lily-Rose Depp wore heavy wool and prosthetics on location in England. Eggers called her the heart of the film. Willem Dafoe plays a hunter.
