Voicemails for Isabelle was a Sony Pictures project. In 2019, Hailee Steinfeld was attached to star and Sharon Maguire was set to direct.

Then nothing happened for six years.

In May 2025, Leah McKendrick came in as both writer and director. Zoey Deutch replaced Steinfeld in the lead. Nick Robinson joined as the stranger receiving the misdirected voicemails. Netflix replaced Sony. They shot the whole thing in Vancouver that July.

McKendrick also appears in the film herself.

It hit Netflix in June 2026. People on Backlot are watching it.
