Jeff Wadlow's script for The Devil's Mouth was originally set in Mexico. He rewrote it entirely before production began, moving everything to Thailand. That decision changed the film.
Wadlow shot in real freshwater caves in Krabi, caves ordinarily used to train rescue divers. He also built two massive cave sets on sound stages, one five meters deep. The cast became certified divers for the production. Kathryn Newton, Lana Condor, and the rest spent most of their eight weeks of filming in cold water, acting underwater.
A bull shark in a freshwater cave is the premise. The movie earns it. It's on Prime Video right now.
