Milly Alcock trained every morning for two months before the Supergirl shoot started and kept going through the entire four and a half months of production. Somewhere in there, she accidentally punched a stunt double on camera. "I felt really bad about that," she said.

James Gunn spotted her while she was still filming House of the Dragon. Craig Gillespie, the director of I, Tonya and Cruella, took the job.

That is not an obvious pairing. Gillespie makes films about people navigating their own legend. It fits.

Supergirl is in theaters now. If you saw Superman earlier this year, this is the next one.
