Spider-Verse: Miles's Frame Rate Is His Character Arc.

Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Peter B. Parker, and other Spider-People leaping through the air above a golden New York City skyline in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

For most of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales moves at 12 frames per second. Not 24. The animators ran him at half speed to make him feel choppy and unfinished, like a panel from a comic book. Peter B. Parker, the veteran, runs at 24fps. Fluid and effortless.

In the final act, when Miles finally becomes Spider-Man, his animation shifts to 24fps too. Most people feel it as confidence and competence. They can't always say why.

Each Spider-Person is drawn in a different style. Spider-Ham uses classic cartoon physics. Peni Parker is rendered as flat as a character can be in 3D animation, built to read like an anime drawing. Spider-Man Noir is desaturated and pulpy.

People on Backlot have this one in their lists. If it's been sitting there, watch it knowing this.
