Marvel asked Andrew Garfield to keep a secret for seven months. He did. He lied.

When a set photo leaked showing him on the No Way Home production, Garfield went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and called it "a Photoshop." On the Today Show weeks before the film's December 2021 release, he told the host directly: "Listen, I am not in the film." He had been saying variations of that since May.

After the film opened, he told TheWrap: "It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists." He also said: "There were moments where I was like, God, I hate lying."

He even lied to Emma Stone, his former girlfriend.

It is streaming now on Disney+.
