Tom Holland auditioned for Spider-Man about eight times over five months. After his final audition, he was told he'd hear back the next day.
Six weeks passed. He assumed he didn't get it.
Then Marvel posted on their Instagram. Holland saw it, ran downstairs screaming, and terrified his dog Tessa. He called Kevin Feige to confirm. Feige asked how he already knew. Holland's answer: "Kevin, they put it on Instagram."
His brother Harry assumed the account had been hacked. That's not how studios announced things.
The director, Jon Watts, had made one feature anyone had seen before this. Cop Car cost less than a single day of Homecoming's production. He and Holland were hired on the same day.
It's on Netflix and Disney+ right now. People on Backlot are watching it.
