Fernando Eimbcke directed Duck Season in 2004. A film shot in black and white. Two boys, one apartment, one Sunday afternoon. It won the Ariel Award and traveled the festival circuit.
His new film, Olmo, has the same quiet gravity. The year is 1979. New Mexico. Olmo is fourteen and his father is sick. He wants to go to a party. That is the whole conflict.
The producers are Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B, the same team behind Moonlight and Minari. Brad Pitt executive produced.
Olmo premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and opens in US theaters August 7.
