Ice Cream Man Took Eli Roth 20 Years to Get Made

Eli Roth got the idea for Ice Cream Man during the Cabin Fever press tour in 2003. Studios kept passing for twenty years. Too sick. Too crazy. Too concerned about working with child actors.

So Roth started his own production company and made it himself.

The premise is a Pied Piper story: an ice cream man uses tainted treats to turn a summer town's kids into unhinged killers. The child actors were cast for acting ability. They spent filming laughing and playing with prop heads and intestines.

The film is unrated and opens August 7.

If you've seen Cabin Fever and Thanksgiving, you know what Roth does when nobody can stop him. Watch Cabin Fever first if you haven't.
