Netflix could have made a fifth season of Heartstopper. Instead they made a film, and when they did, Kit Connor and Joe Locke became executive producers with real creative input over how their characters' story would end.
Locke said they "actually put some effort in and took it seriously." Connor described the role as being the "creative input and mouthpiece for the cast," all of whom cared about their characters' endings.
For Alice Oseman, who created the original graphic novel, the film closes a decade of her life. "It has been nearly 10 years," she said. "It's basically been my 20s."
Heartstopper Forever is on Netflix. If you haven't seen the series, start there. If you have, you already know you're watching this.
