David Robert Mitchell made It Follows on a micro-budget, shot in suburban Detroit. He wrote The End of Oak Street the same way: on his own, before J.J. Abrams was ever involved. The script found its way to Abrams. Bad Robot and Warner Bros. followed.

The film opens August 14. A suburban street gets torn from its foundations and dropped into a prehistoric wilderness. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are the parents trying to get their family out alive. Oscar Isaac was originally cast opposite Hathaway and dropped out. McGregor took the part.

Mitchell brought back his full It Follows crew: the cinematographer, the editor, the composer. It's his first PG-13.
